Civil War GAR Union Soldier Walking Stick

Regular price Sale

19th c folk art wood walking stick with relief carved imagery suggesting it was carved by an American GAR soldier. Grungy surface with attractive ware pattern. Wood has warped to form a slightly bent shape over time.  My best guess is maple wood.

Possibly the work of Charles W Teale from Bath, NY.  See "American Folk Art Canes", George Myer, page 146-147 and text on page 204 for reference.
