18th Century Quebec Armoire
Early Canadian wall cupboard exhibiting the influence Louis XV style brought with early settlers from France. The armoire shows many of features of Quebec furniture including overlapping multi-panel doors, rat tail hinges, triple pinned joints and a paneled back. Most distinctive is the relief carved center style with scrolled top sharing similarities with figures 61 & 78 in Jean Palardy's book. It is possible that this piece was made by the same hand in late 18th c Montreal.
