18th Century Quebec Armoire
Early Canadian wall cupboard exhibiting the influence Louis XV style brought with early settlers from France. The armoire shows many of the best features of Quebec furniture including overlapping multipanel doors, rat tail hinges, triple pinned joints and a paneled back. Most distinctive is the relieve carved center style with carved spirals shared with figures 61 & 78 in Jean Palardy's book. It is possible that this piece was made by the same hand in late 18th c Montreal.
