Andre Bieler RCA (Canadian 1896-1989)
Abstract Composition c 1950s
Oil on Card 7" x 4.5"
A stark contrast to his earlier post impressionist scenes of rural Quebec, this small abstract was done later in Bieler's life when he was a Professor at Queen's University. It is painted on a perforated art teaching card and floated in a new frame. He was teaching at Queens from 1936-1964 which would date this work to the last half of that period. It was sold at a cafe in Kingston called Domus and remained in one collection for several decades.
