Pits Qimirpik Falcon

A tour de force sculpture of a falcon by the late, great Pitseolak Qimirpik from Kimmirut at the height of his artistic career.   In the late 1980s, fellow Kimmirut carver Nalenik Temela branded bear and walrus carvings with matte torsos and polished limbs.  Pits flipped the script on his birds by carving matte limbs and heads with polished eyes, beaks and talons. The result was a prized brand of sculptures that collectors immediately recognized at Pits Qimirpik birds.  Majestic falcon is presented with deeply carved eyes, beautiful talons and a razor sharp beak.  Perched as an avian sentinel at full alert - this Pits falcon is ready for anything.
